Ayşe Dolar Bilge MD, FEBOphth. — Ophthalmologist, Oculoplastic Surgery. Born in 1980 in Bursa. Below are my education, post-residency training, qualification and memberships in chronological order.

Medical education

1998-2004 · Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine — Doctor of Medicine.

Residency

2004-2009 · Istanbul Göztepe Training and Research Hospital, Department of Ophthalmology — residency in ophthalmology. Alongside general ophthalmology I worked on cataract surgery, strabismus and ocular surface disease during these years; the publications from this period also cover neuro-ophthalmology and retinal imaging.

Further training in oculoplastic surgery

2009 · Moorfields Eye Hospital, London — work in oculoplastic surgery. Moorfields is one of the centres where eyelid, orbital and lacrimal surgery is performed at high volume.

2013 · Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine — work in oculoplastic and lacrimal surgery. The orbital and eyelid surgery papers from this period are listed on my scientific publications page.

Qualification and memberships

FEBO — Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology.

ESOPRS — European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, active member.

TOD Oculoplastic Surgery Unit — Turkish Ophthalmological Association, active member.

Professional interests

Oculoplastic surgery — functional and cosmetic eyelid surgery: ptosis, entropion, ectropion, eyelid retraction, eyelid tumours and blepharoplasty.

Lacrimal surgery — disorders of the tear drainage system, duct obstruction in adults and children, revision of failed duct surgery.

Cataract surgery — cataract and intraocular lens selection, premium lenses included.

Strabismus treatment and surgery with pediatric ophthalmology.

Ocular surface diseases — dry eye, blepharitis, pterygium and conjunctival conditions.

Prosthetic eye — evisceration, enucleation and socket problems.

Academic work

I have written and contributed to articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. The subjects run through oculoplastic and orbital surgery, the lacrimal system, ocular surface and pterygium surgery, cataract and intraocular lenses, children's eye health, neuro-ophthalmology and retinal imaging.
